Sabrina Carpenter has something special ahead of her upcoming album.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, the 25-year-old singer dropped a teaser of her new song, “Taste,” to her Instagram.
The clip was released while fans are anticipating Carpenter’s third studio album, Short n’ Sweet — which will be out Friday, Aug. 23.
“Go to my profile to hear a taste of short n’ sweet now 💋” she wrote.
Fans can listen to Carpenter’s new song via Instagram when they use the platform’s new music feature, which allows users to add music directly to their profile — which is the only place fans can hear the song!
Ahead of sharing the snippet on Instagram, Carpenter teased the clip a couple of times throughout the week, first in a Tuesday, Aug. 20 Instagram post. The “Espresso” singer shared a series of photos gearing up for the album release, including a picture of her posing in pink lingerie.
She captioned the post, “taste me!”
Then on Wednesday, Aug. 21, she shared a sneak peek at the “Taste” music video. In the brief clip, Carpenter is seen vengefully looking — with a knife in hand — for a certain beau and his mistress (played by Scream’s Jenna Ortega).
Carpenter then sings, “Oh I leave quite an impression,” as she fixes her lipstick while using the knife’s blade as a mirror, and then abruptly cuts to the title card.
Carpenter announced the new album on June 3 via Instagram. “MY NEW ALBUM IS COMING OUT AUGUST 23rd!!!!💋,” Carpenter wrote. “This project is quite special to me and I hope it’ll be something special to you too.”
In her announcement, she included the LP’s cover artwork, which highlights the singer’s long blonde hair cascading down her back and a dark red kiss mark on her left shoulder against a deep blue background.
Weeks later, she announced her 2024 Short ‘n’ Sweet headlining tour across North America. She will kick-off the 29-performance run in Columbus, Ohio on Monday, Sept. 23.
That same month, she released a music video for her Jack Antonoff-produced single “Please Please Please.”
“Please Please Please” follows the success of her single, “Espresso,” which she performed live for the first time during her Coachella 2024 debut.
She also performed the smash hit during her debut Saturday Night Live performance on May 18, along with her songs “Feather” and “Nonsense.”
The next month, on June 17, she spoke with Rolling Stone about how her song “Espresso” became a smash hit.
“My mom has been like, ‘Do you feel crazy right now?’” said Carpenter of the track in the publication. “I just love that people get my sense of humor.”
Following the success of “Espresso,” which became her first top-five on the Billboard’s Hot 100 and her first No. 1 in the U.K., Ireland and Australia, Carpenter also collaborated with Van Leeuwen for — fittingly — an espresso-flavored ice cream.
