Ackerley, also aged 34, is an English film producer, actor, and former assistant director, and he co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment along with his wife.

The pair first met back in 2013 while filming World War II drama Suite Française, Robbie of course was acting, while Ackerley was the assistant director.

According to Vogue, Robbie invited Ackerley, her childhood friend Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara, to the UK premiere of The Wolf of Wall Street in January 2014.

The four of them hit it off and she suggested they all move in together, and so they started renting a home in London and it was in 2014 that she and Ackerley started dating.

Speaking to The Guardian in 2018, she said: “We kept it a secret. Because we weren’t really taking it seriously. ‘Oh, whatever, we’re just mates, we’re just mates.’ And then, everyone found out.

She added that ‘shit hit the fan’ when people found out because their friends were worried the relationship would ‘ruin our group’.

Robbie continued: “Our house turned into ‘The Jerry Springer Show’ for a moment there. But then the dust settled, and it was all good. And then it didn’t [ruin the group]. It was fine.”

Two years down the line, in 2016, they tied the knot at a hushed ceremony in Bryon Bay, Australia, just four hours away from her home town Dalby.

So hushed that they never even announced their engagement.

Their company has produced iconic films such as I, Tonya, – the movie about Tonya Harding who in 1991 became the first American woman to complete a triple axel during a competition.

Three years later her ex-husband conspired to injure the competition, attacking Nancy Kerrigan, who was also an aspiring Olympian – it went down as one of the most infamous scandals in sports history.

They also worked on Barbie together and Birds of Prey – the 2020 action comedy that Robbie starred as Harley Quinn, the supervillain initially created for Batman.

All we can say is the best of luck to Robbie and Ackerley – congratulations!

Margot Robbie is set to make $50 million for bringing Barbie to the big screen

Margot Robbie is set to make $50 million for bringing Barbie to the big screen

The Australian star could soon have a very large bank account.

Margot Robbie is set for a big pay day when Barbie mania wraps up.

Variety has learned the Australian actor, who also produced the global smash hit through her production company LuckyChap Entertainment, could make as much as $50 million.

That is a combination of her salary for the film as well as bonuses related to the box office.

The film has made nearly $1.2 billion from cinemas around the world and it will likely continue bringing in the big bucks as people keep flocking to theaters.

Variety says director Greta Gerwig is also set for a humungous pay day when the film eventually finishes its theatrical run.

Barbie has become the highest-grossing film in history by a female director.

Warner Bros.

It recently dethroned the record held by Frozen II director Jennifer Lee and has also become Warner Bros’ second-highest grossing film after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

While Barbie might be making a splash everywhere in the world, it seems there will be some people who won’t get to see it.

The film has been banned in Kuwait and Vietnam for various reasons and Lebanon could be about to follow suit.

Kuwait removed it from cinemas to protect ‘public ethics’ because the movie ‘promulgate[s] ideas and beliefs that are alien to Kuwaiti society and public order’, according to a spokesman for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information.

Last week, authorities in Lebanon issued a call for Barbie to be removed over fears that it ‘promotes homosexuality and transsexuality… supports rejecting a father’s guardianship, undermines and ridicules the role of the mother, and questions the necessity of marriage and having a family’.

Lebanese Culture Minister Mohammad Mortada begged his country to take all the necessary steps to get it removed.

However, it’s a very different story over in Vietnam.

Barbie has made $1 billion at the box office.

Warner Bros

The country decided to pull it from cinemas over a very specific detail in one scene.

The moment in question shows Margot Robbie’s Barbie meeting Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) and being told about the world outside of Barbie Land.

In the background of the scene there is a child-like drawing of a map.

There is a depiction of the Nine Dash Line, which is used on Chinese maps to show the territory it claims in the South China Sea.

The South China Sea is contested by China, Taiwan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia and Brunei, so a map showing the ‘nine-dash line’ would not likely go down well in Vietnam, which says China’s claims in the region violate its sovereignty.

Speaking out about the controversy, a spokesperson for Warner Bros. said: “The map in Barbie Land is a child-like crayon drawing.

“The doodles depict Barbie’s make-believe journey from Barbie Land to the ‘real world.’ It was not intended to make any type of statement.”

Margot Robbie doesn't mind that people online are obsessed over her feet

Margot Robbie doesn’t mind that people online are obsessed over her feet

The actor said she first stumbled upon the internet’s obsession with her feet when she Googled herself.

Margot Robbie is fine with your foot fetish.

The star of Barbie is aware that certain parts of the internet are obsessed with her feet and she thinks that’s ‘nice’.

The Aussie actor’s feet first became a mainstream topic of conversation after she starred in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019.

But certain parts of the internet have been obsessed with what’s in the 33-year-old’s shoes for much longer.

And the obsession with her tootsies has only grown since Barbie’s release.

In the film, Robbie’s feet play a pretty pivotal role and are the first warning sign that something is wrong with her character.

Speaking to CinemaBlend, Robbie explained that she stumbled upon the internet’s foot fetish after she Googled herself when she was first starting out in Hollywood.

“The very first time I Googled myself, you know how when you type something into Google and it predicts what the rest of it is going to be?” she explained.

“I’d started working and I was on some things and I hadn’t Googled myself before, and so I wrote in ‘Margot Robbie’ and before I finished writing ‘Robbie’, ‘Margot Robbie feet’ came up.”

She continued: “I clicked on it and realised that there were pictures zoomed in on my feet and people were writing about them and someone had made a video compilation of footage of my feet and I was like, ‘oh wow, this is like a thing. I didn’t realise’.”

Robbie’s feet are featured on the site wikifeet, where they have a five star rating.

Users on the site discuss her best ‘sole shots’ and have heated arguments about whether Barbie is a ‘foot fest’ or not.

While this may seem a little… odd, Robbie said she’s actually flattered that people like her feet.

“I have to say I’m really flattered that people are excited about my feet, I think that’s lovely,” she said in the interview.

When the interviewer and her co-star Ryan Gosling looked at her to see whether she was joking, she doubled down.

“I am genuinely… I don’t feel weird about it. I’m actually like ‘well that’s nice’,” she said.

“Here’s to Margot Robbie’s feet,” Gosling then said, raising his drink in a cheers.

Funnily enough, Barbie director Greta Gerwig was asked whether they were going to CGI the feet in the movie and she was shocked at the question.

“No! That’s a nightmare’,” she recalled to The Project.

“And I was like ‘[Margot] has the nicest feet’. She has these beautiful dancer feet. She should just hang on to that bar and do it just like this.”

Margot Robbie is frustrated she didn’t get to make out with Ryan Gosling in Barbie

Margot Robbie is frustrated she didn’t get to make out with Ryan Gosling in Barbie

The Barbie star was also a producer on the movie – yet still didn’t get to kiss Gosling

After much anticipation, a whole load of merch and a committed extravagant press tour, Barbie is finally in cinemas.

Greta Gerwig’s latest movie hit the big screen on Friday (21 July), having film fans flock to see it in their best pinks.

Barbie sees the doll leave Barbieland for the real world where she believes the Barbies have solved all their problems. She embarks on a pink-fuelled journey of self-discovery, existential crises and flat feet – with plenty of star cameos along the way.

Oh, and just a heads up, this article contains some very minor spoilers – well, spoilers for those who were hoping for some doll-on-doll action anyway.

Starring in the titular role is Margot Robbie, 33, who to be specific is the ‘Stereotypical Barbie’ doll.

And as her Ken, beach Ken, is of course Ryan Gosling, 42.

An important part of the film to remember is that they are dolls. So therefore, as Robbie’s character reminds a load of leering construction workers in the Real World, they have ‘no genitals’.

Barbie is now in cinemas.

Warner Bros.

Following through with this, there’s many moments of comedy between Barbie and Ken – such as her confusion as to why he would stay over for the night.

Plus, there’s the devoted doll saying goodbye to Barbie at the door of her dreamhouse, where he stands pouting inches from her face for an awkwardly long amount of time. But no kiss. And Ken seems to be fine with this.

In real life however, Robbie admitted to People that no kiss with The Notebook actor ‘didn’t feel like a win for me’.

The Aussie’s friends couldn’t believe it either – how was their actor friend also a producer on this movie but still not smooching Gosling?

Robbie recalled: “All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well you did a whole movie with him and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you?

“I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’

“I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off [my list]’.”

Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling star in Barbie.

Warner Bros.

Although his co-star seems a little disappointed that she didn’t get to kiss him, Gosling was pleased with how they portrayed their tricky romance.

He said in their joint interview: “It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be.

“I’m so glad all of that got cut out.”

While there wasn’t much lip action, the movie sees a lot of, I guess, foot action from Gosling as he shows off his dance moves.

“It was something I had to prepare for a lot,” he said. But he had help with his preparation from his daughters Esmeralda, eight, and Amada, seven, as well as his partner Eva Mendes.

“They were at home while I was doing it,” Gosling said of practicing his Ken dancing. “And they ended up knowing it as well as I did.”

Barbie is now in cinemas.

Margot Robbie surprised deaf fan by speaking to him using sign language

The star had a heartwarming interaction with a fan

Margot Robbie has delighted fans thanks to a video which has re-emerged online showing her using sign language to talk to a fan.

The star of Barbie had been appearing at the premiere of the movie Amsterdam last September in London and went out onto the red carpet to pose for pictures and interact with fans.

One fan got an experience they won’t soon forget when Robbie went out of her way when she spoke to him after the man had come to her and spoken in sign language.

In a surprising and heartwarming moment, Robbie revealed she was able to respond to him in sign language.

A video shows her appearing to sign ‘nice to meet you’ before she starts to test her skills by working through the alphabet with the fan.

The video has delighted fans of Robbie, who took to the comments to express their approval.

One wrote: “she really took time to free her hands and communicate with a fan to make them seen. She’s so precious.”

Another posted: “As if we needed another reason to love her!”

According to one person, Margot had been speaking British Sign Language, or BSL, which is distinct from American Sign Language (ASL). There are many different types of sign language around the world.

Robbie was thrown back into limelight once again as her latest movie Barbie was released last week. The flick has been hotly anticipated, particularly after being released alongside the movie Oppenheimer.

Movie fans online have been making jokes and memes about the huge difference in tone between the two movies. It makes sense, as one is a massive existential meditation on the nature of reality and our relationship with society, and the other one is Oppenheimer, a film about the development of the atomic bomb.

Barbie has made history after the flick – directed by Greta Gerwig – became the movie with the biggest opening weekend of any movie directed by a woman.

Barbie has so far scooped £377 million at the box office. Meanwhile, Oppenheimer drew £174 million on its opening weekend.

Combined, ‘Barbenheimer’, as the pair of films have become known, has been the biggest box office weekend of 2023 so far.

Michael O’Leary, president and CEO of the National Association of Theatre Owners, told The Guardian: “It was a truly historic weekend and continues the positive box office momentum of 2023.

“People recognised that something special was happening and they wanted to be a part of it.”

Some fans took things one step further and even dressed up in outfits which were half pink and half black, while others showcased spectacular costume changes between the movies.
