Our perception of Hollywood and its celebrities often tends to be quite skewed. I admit that I sometimes try to emulate these stars.
This tendency to imitate isn’t unusual; humans often mimic each other in terms of fashion, interests, and appearance.
Celebrities are frequently seen as paragons of beauty, appearing flawless whether on screen, on the red carpet, in photoshoots, or even on the streets. They always seem impeccably put together.
However, occasionally, we get glimpses of celebrities without the makeup, flattering lighting, and glamorous outfits. Recent years have offered several such instances, reminding us that celebrities are just ordinary people, not superhumans.
Goldie Hawn, now 74, has long been one of my favorite actresses. Her radiant smile, charming personality, and immense talent have captivated millions. Unlike many, Goldie has maintained her star status and popularity for over three decades.
Since her breakthrough, Goldie has been celebrated for her natural beauty and golden blonde hair. In April 2020, she graced the cover of People Magazine’s “Beautiful Issue” in its 30th year.
Today, Goldie exemplifies inner beauty and confidence. She is a strong woman who has aged gracefully.
But it wasn’t always easy for her.
“When I was younger, I was flat-chested and awkward. My face was changing due to hormones, and I wasn’t popular with boys. I thought no one would ever love me. It’s a tough time for any girl to feel good about herself,” she shared with Beauty Heaven.
As Goldie rose to fame, she learned to accept herself. Despite facing criticism, she developed inner strength, realizing that people’s opinions shouldn’t define her.
“You have to become resilient to people’s opinions and understand who you are and what you think about yourself. That’s how I discovered my inner beauty,” she explained.
A few years ago, Goldie was photographed without makeup in broad daylight, which surprised many because she looked different from her usual glammed-up appearance. Yet, many praised her natural look, and her confidence is commendable. Just because she forgoes heavy makeup doesn’t mean she neglects her skincare.
“Sleep is crucial. So are good oils, removing dead skin, and using sunscreen daily. I also massage my face creams in,” Goldie advised.
In a Pop Sugar interview, she revealed that she takes two tablespoons of olive oil before bed and massages her face to keep her skin healthy.
“The skin is our largest organ, and it gets drier as you age,” she noted.
In the image-conscious entertainment industry, Goldie has often addressed questions about her appearance. Many celebrities have spoken out against ageism in Hollywood, including Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, and Helen Mirren. Goldie, however, has a different approach.
“Do you think you can fight the system and prove to Hollywood that you’re still sexy and viable at 45? No. There’s a reality. Does it make me angry? No. I’m not an angry person. Anger isn’t productive,” she told Harpers Bazaar in 2017.
Hollywood romances are notorious for their brevity. Yet, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have defied this trend, remaining in love after nearly four decades together.
The pair starred in several films in the ’80s, including the romantic comedy Overboard, though they rarely appear on screen together now.
Kurt continues to be an in-demand actor, appearing in films like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and the Fast and Furious franchise. Goldie has largely retired from acting but reunited with Kurt to play Santa and Mrs. Claus in The Christmas Chronicles. A sequel is in the works, with both set to reprise their roles.
