Alicia Silverstone has made some of her fans very concerned for her wellbeing after posting what she thought was a harmless video to her TikTok account.
The actress, who is best known for her role in the 90s hit comedy movie Clueless, posted herself eating a strange-looking fruit from someone’s front yard while she was out strolling in London.
In the video she posted, the actress was biting into the food and showing its insides to the camera before she turned to her followers for help in figuring out the identity of the fruit.
She then takes another bite of the fruit before the video ends. And thanks her fans fo the help she assumes she will soon be receiving.
While she expected answers, she might not have expected what the answer would be. Fans immediately recognized the fruit, which looks like a cherry tomato, but it is a nightshade that can poison humans.
“OK, I’ve discovered something that I can’t figure out what it is and I need your help,” she says in the video.
“I just bit into it because it was on the street and we were discussing whether it’s a tomato or not but it’s not because look at these leaves. If I bite it … I don’t think you’re supposed to eat this? It’s almost like a pepper. Can someone tell me what it is? Thank you!”
According to expert sources, it seems the plant is quite dangerous to consume, “All parts of the plant are poisonous, especially the unripe fruits. If plant or fruit is eaten, early symptoms can include fever, sweating, vomiting, stomach pain, headache and increased heart rate. Symptoms are delayed for several hours and can persist for days.”
However, in some instances, it is said that eating a whole un-ripe fruit can be fatal to both pets and humans. Since posting that video, Alicia has posted no updates about herself which has concerned a lot of fans.
One person posted on X, ‘girl are you still alive.’ Another person was shocked at her behavior, “omg she bites a SECOND ONE.” One person did their own research and concluded she might be safe, they wrote, “Girl I just did a deep google search for the pasts 15 minutes cuz this stressed me out. Apparently she didn’t eat enough that could kill her, at worst she might have nausea headaches abdominal pain etc”
Other people questioned why she ate the plant in the first place, writing, “Why would someone eat random stuff off people’s bush?”
