A playful birthday tribute

In the video, the shirtless Robert De Niro, dressed in red-and-blue striped Vilebrequin swim shorts, jumped off the yacht headfirst. However, the actor ended up hitting the water on his back, prompting concern from his daughter.

“He’s so crazy. Oh my God. Oh my God. Are you alright?” Drena asked as her father resurfaced from the water.

The dad of seven quickly reassured her.

“I’m OK,” he replied.

Drena playfully called her father “sick” and “crazy” for his daring jump. Curious about the height of the leap, she asked a yacht employee, who confirmed that Robert had jumped from 36 feet.

Fans celebrate Robert De Niro’s birthday

Drena’s Instagram post was met with an outpouring of birthday wishes from fans and admirers. Comments poured in, celebrating the iconic actor and wishing him well.

“Happy 81st Bday to my Dad and #1 ride or die. Love you with all my heart #BobbyD forever,” Drena wrote.

“HBD to 1 of 1, New York’s finest,” a fan responded.

“Happy Birthday to The Best Actor In The World,” added another.

A third fan expressed their admiration.

“A Happy Birthday to the best actor of all time, for his 81st Birthday. And many more. From a very big fan.”

A heartfelt reflection

The Instagram post also included a throwback photo of Robert with Drena’s late son, Leandro. Drena, who Robert adopted during his marriage to Diahnne Abbott, has been open about her grief following Leandro’s passing in July 2023.

The 19-year-old, whom Drena shared with graffiti artist Carlos Rodriguez, died from a “toxic” combination of illicit drugs, as confirmed by the New York City Medical Examiner.
