OG Eminem fans spot incredible 28-year-old forgotten reference in opening track to new album

Eminem can still flow like he used to

Eminem fans who’ve been here since the very beginning reckon they’ve spotted a reference in his latest album. The legendary rapper dropped The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) today (12 July) and has told people they should listen to the tracks in order to get a better idea of what’s going on.

Eminem’s cryptic album announcement It’s album number 12 for Eminem and people are already picking up what he was putting down with the lyrics.

In one of the tracks, ‘Temporary’, Slim Shady lets his daughter Hailie know that things will be OK once he’s gone, and there’s plenty of his fans readily admitting that it made them cry. Then of course there’s the ‘hardest Diddy diss’ contained within the songs ‘Antichrist’ and ‘Fuel’, where he really gives the guy both barrels.

However, this latest observation from his OG fans is all about the opening song to the new album.

That first track on The Death of Slim Shady is titled ‘Renaissance’, and while it might be a kind of rebirth for the rapper there are plenty of fans who reckon it’s a throwback to his opening days.

“God damn this flow! Takes me back to 15 year old me listening to slim shady LP for the first time,” one fan said.

Someone else said it was ‘his Infinite flow and voice’ and wished it had been a longer song.

Infinite was Eminem’s debut album that was released back in 1996, and his fans think that The Death of Slim Shady shows he can still spit bars like he used to back in the day.

Others said that ‘Renaissance’ ‘def has Infinite vibes’ and put this track first to ‘show people he can still do this flow’.

Some thought it came from a few years later, saying the track was ‘straight 2003-2005 flow’, and ‘sounds more like Encore than Infinite‘.

Encore was Eminem’s fifth studio album, released in 2004, and while his devotees are split over exactly which era the rapper was hearkening back to with his flow in ‘Renaissance’ they’re sure that it’s a great throwback to his earlier work.

Elsewhere in the album the song ‘Houdini’, which was released back on 31 May, had his fans declaring that ‘real rap is back’.

That one had them thinking of the old days as well, not least because Eminem opened it with the lyrics ‘guess who’s back, back again’.

We all know where that’s from, and if this really is the end of Slim Shady then it was one hell of a ride.

Eminem slammed over 'sick and tasteless' song on new album with controversial reference

Eminem slammed over ‘sick and tasteless’ song on new album with controversial reference

He is the king of controversy after all…

Let’s be honest, it’s not an Eminem album unless it’s met with a significant amount backlash; after all, it’s through controversy and shock rap that the 51-year-old originally made a name for himself.

And from the get-go, it was obvious that his newest album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) would be no different.

However, one song in particular has been blasted by listeners for its ‘tasteless’ reference to a real-life shooting in 2021.

On the track ‘Fuel’, the rapper – real name Marshall Mathers – makes a reference to the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, after she was shot by a bullet in a prop gun on set of the film Rust nearly three years ago.

He raps: “But it’s in a holster, I proceed to bust it/ F**k around and get popped like Halyna Hutchins

“Like I’m Alec Baldwin, what I mean is buckin’ you down, coup de grâce then.”

Actor Alec Baldwin had recently been standing trial in New Mexico – charged with involuntary manslaughter over Hutchins’ death – however, the case has since been dismissed by a judge.

Baldwin had claimed he had not pulled the trigger on the gun, which caused Hutchins’ death and that others on set were responsible for performing safety checks on the weapon.

Eminem’s brazen reference to the shooting left listeners shocked, with many taking to social media to share their distaste at the lyric.

“Eminem dissing Halyna Hutchins and Alec Baldwin was not on my 2024 Bingo card,” one shocked fan wrote on X, while others branded the lyric ‘disgusting’, ‘disrespectful’ and ‘tasteless’.

“Love him, but that’s extremely disrespectful to her family,” a third person penned.

The Alec Baldwin and Halyna Hutchins reference wasn’t the only lyric on The Death of Slim Shady which caused backlash either, with the rapper’s lead single ‘Houdini’ being slammed for mentioning fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion’s shooting.

“If I was to ask for Megan Thee Stallion if she would collab with me / Would I really have a shot at a feat?” he sings on the track, seemingly making light of the fact that Stallion was shot in the foot by Tory Lanez back in 2020.

Several other celebrities were also left feeling the heat from the rapper’s forked tongue on the album, which sees Eminem unceremoniously kill off his infamous alter-ego Slim Shady.

The rapper took aim at Aquaman star Amber Heard in the track ‘Lucifer’ by referencing her 2022 defamation trial against Johnny Depp, while also delivering a brutal diss to fellow rapper Diddy on the song ‘Antichrist’.

Guess who’s back, back again?

Eminem has promised to make his ‘career disappear’ ahead of his highly-anticipated new album.

On his new single ‘Houdini’, the rapper gave us a glimpse on what to expect on the upcoming project.

In the song, the 51-year-old took shots at everyone, including his children, as the likes of 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg and Pete Davidson also appear in the music video.

He raps: “But you can all suck my d**k, in fact

“F**k them, f**k Dre, f**k Jimmy, f**k me, f**k you, f**k my own kids, they’re brats (f**k ’em)

“They can screw off (Yeah), them and you all (Uh).”

Now, a day before the release, Eminem fans think they have figured out the meaning of his album via a new cryptic video he has shared.

Watch below:

Supporters of the rapper have come up with a wild, yet compelling, theory explaining what Eminem means when he says his next album will ‘cancel himself’.

Fans have dissected the name of his upcoming record ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, as the French term translates as ‘a final blow or shot given to kill a wounded person or animal’.

A second fan also echoed: “Oh my God Eminem is locked in the basement. They done shady’s done free he doesn’t come out the grave. This generation is so hit bro.”

Eminem makes Amber Heard subject of brutal punchline with reference to 'disgusting' act from Johnny Depp trial

Eminem makes Amber Heard subject of brutal punchline with reference to ‘disgusting’ act from Johnny Depp trial

The rapper hasn’t held back on The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace) – and even Amber Heard is in the firing line

Just when you think something’s finally been put to bed – no pun intended – you can count on Eminem to bring it back up again and remind us all about it.

The Detroit rapper, 51, hasn’t held back on his new album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace), which sees him kill off his alter-ego while addressing some very topical issues.

He’s never been one to shy away from including controversial subjects in his songs, shocking fans with his insane wordplay and below the belt barbs towards other famous faces – but targeting Amber Heard is a new one.

Forget Eminem dissing Diddy on the track ‘Antichrist’ or addressing his future death on ‘Temporary’, as it’s the seventh track on his 12th album which left listeners open-mouthed.

He made Aquaman star Heard, 38, the subject of a brutal punchline in the song ‘Lucifer’, which centred around a certain embarrassing incident, which emerged during the defamation trial she fought against her ex-husband Johnny Depp.

A lot has gone in since the former couple battled it out in court and a jury in Virginia, US, unanimously ruled in The Pirates of the Caribbean actor’s favour, but there was one detail which has managed to stick in a lot of our minds.

It’s clearly inserted itself firmly into Eminem‘s memory too, seen as though he brings it up on ‘Lucifer’.

While wrapping up his second verse on the song, he says: “My s**t is like taking Deborah Mathers at her word

“Yeah, I’m that absurd, we had a spat, then afterwards

“We squashed the beef like a hamburger patty, or should I say gigantic turd?

“‘Cause I put that s**t to bed like Amber Heard at a Mattress Firm.”

So as well as getting in yet another shot at his mother’s poor parenting, Eminem – real name Marshall Mathers – decided to also touch on Heard’s toilet habits – or lack thereof.

For those who need a refresher in all of the details which emerged during the Depp v Heard trial, something quite gross came to light while Starling Jenkins III was on the stand.

The longtime executive chauffeur and security guard, who first met the Edward Scissorhands star in 1993, explained that Heard had made a bizarre admission about a ‘horrible practical joke gone wrong’ while he drove her to Coachella.

Recalling the conversation, he told the court that he and Heard had ‘a conversation pertaining to the surprise she left in the boss’s bed’ after allegedly arguing with Depp, 61, during her 30th birthday party before she headed to the festival.

The surprise was, of course, ‘the defecation’ which had been left on their bed.

Speaking on the stand, Depp recalled how he had intended to head to their home to collect some things while his then-wife was out of town, only for Jenkins to warn him ‘it wasn’t a good time to go’.

He explained: “And I thought, ‘It’s the perfect time. She’s not going to be home for two days.’ Then he showed me a photograph on his telephone of…it was a photograph of our bed, and on my side of the bed, was human fecal matter.”

According to the actor, Heard ‘tried to blame’ the mess on their dogs.

Depp added: “They’re teacup Yorkies. They weigh about 4 pounds each. The photograph that I saw – I lived with those dogs for many years. It was not the dogs.”

In the trial, Heard also said that Depp’s dog, Boo, had ‘bowel control issues’, and when asked to clarify if she’d committed ‘any prank’ in relation to the fecal matter, she said: “Absolutely not.”

Although all this s**t talk had long died down, Eminem clearly thinks we shouldn’t forget it so easily.

By the way, if you are going to rush off and listen to ‘Lucifer’ or the entire The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grace) for yourself now, just remember that the rapper issued a warning about what order you play it in.

As it’s a ‘conceptual album’, Eminem told fans it ‘might not make sense’ if it isn’t listened to chronologically.

Eminem addresses his death to daughter Hailie Jade in heartbreaking new song

Eminem addresses his death to daughter Hailie Jade in heartbreaking new song

Fans were not ready for this

Eminem has got his fans ‘crying like a baby’ after the rapper addressed his death in a new song written for his daughter Hailie Jade.

The rapper dropped his eagerly anticipated studio album on Friday (12 July) and hip-hop enthusiasts have since been dissecting the 19-track project.

Titled ‘The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)‘, the record promised to kill off his alter ego Slim Shady once and for all.

We were first introduced to Slim back on monster hit ‘My Name Is’ in 1999 and ‘The Real Slim Shady’ a year later.

As you are probably aware, the provocative character rocked a bleached blonde haircut and a ‘idgaf’ attitude.

And throughout the new album, nobody is safe as Eminem takes shots at P Diddy and even his own kids.

While most of the project features a rejuvenated Slim Shady, in one track, Eminem issued a heartbreaking admission to his daughter in the event of his death.

On ‘Temporary’, the father-of-three attempts to put Hailie at ease, telling her that life is going to be difficult but ok after he dies.

At the beginning of the track, we hear an old recording of a conversation between a young Eminem and Hailie, when she was a kid.

The intro between the two goes: “A lot of people ask me, am I afraid of death? The truth is, I think what scares the me most is not being able to say all the things.

“I wanna say to you when I’m no longer here. So this song is for Hailie, for when that day comes

“Where is Hailie? Where is she at? This ain’t Hailie. Who is it?

“It’s a monster.”

He raps: “Look after Eleana, Stevie and Uncle Nate / And, sweetie, be strong; I know I was your rock, and I still am / Saying goodbye is just not ever easy / Why you crying? Just stop / Hailie, baby, dry your eyes, this is not forever.”

Fans have since taken to social media, saying that the ‘track should have came with a warning’.

“Crying to Eminem’s new album was not something I thought I’d do today but holy f**k. Was vibing to the music until ‘Temporary’ came on and I just started crying holy f**k. Such a beautiful song,” one person commented.

“Eminem’s track ‘Temporary’ is actually a tear jerker man,” penned a second.

As a third wrote: “Why did you do this, Eminem? You got me crying like a baby. ‘Temporary’ is so beautiful…”

The rapper shares three children with his ex-wife, Kim Scott: Hailie Jade Scott, Alaina Scott and Stevie Laine Scott.

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old recently got married to her partner Evan McClintock, as her dad, 51, wore a tuxedo, dark glasses and Nike Air Jordans for the nuptials.
