Harrison Ford’s Longtime Family Home He Bought for $1M Lists For $20M — Details & Photos

Nestled within the heart of Los Angeles lies a residence steeped in the illustrious history of Hollywood, now gracing the real estate market.

This distinguished abode was once the cherished domicile of none other than the renowned actor

Harrison Ford, celebrated for his unforgettable portrayals in cinematic classics like “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones.”

Back in 1983, following the triumph of “Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi,” Ford acquired this Brentwood home for a modest $1 million.

Prior to his meteoric rise in acting, Ford honed his craft as a carpenter, a skill he put to use in the restoration and renovation of his newfound sanctuary. Despite modernizing aspects of the property, Ford ensured to preserve its original architectural charm.

During a candid Reddit Q&A session, Ford reminisced about his early days in the industry, revealing his unexpected journey from assisting George Lucas with auditions to landing the iconic role of Han Solo. He humbly shared, “My principal job at the time was carpentry.”

Indeed, Ford’s proficiency in carpentry sustained him before the limelight beckoned. Notably, in 1970, he constructed a recording studio for Brazilian singer Sergio Mendes, showcasing his knack for woodworking.

This background proved invaluable when he later undertook the renovation of his Brentwood abode, reportedly contributing his own designs and craftsmanship to the interior.

In 2012, Ford bid adieu to his cherished retreat, passing the torch to Kevin Reilly, the then Chief Content Officer of HBO Max, for $8.2 million.

However, Reilly’s stewardship was brief, as the property changed hands once more in 2016, fetching $12 million from the hands of Evan Spiegel, the visionary behind Snapchat, and his spouse, the esteemed supermodel Miranda Kerr.

Spiegel, then 25, and Kerr, 33, acquired the estate listed at $12.5 million for a negotiated price of $12 million, subsequently imprinting their own style upon its opulent halls.

This property, nestled within a coveted gated community in Brentwood, was originally envisioned by the esteemed architect Gerard Colcord in 1951, boasting 0.8 acres of land and 7,164 square feet of luxurious living space.

Comprising four bedrooms, each with its own en suite bath, the main residence offers panoramic vistas of Brentwood, complemented by cozy fireplaces and ample seating areas. The farmhouse-style bathrooms exude warmth with their bathtubs and hardwood floors.

Beyond the main house lie a plethora of amenities, including a spacious living room, a library, and separate guest quarters. A grand gated driveway leads to an expansive motor court, setting the stage for the estate’s grandeur.

Distinguished by mature trees, an inviting courtyard, and vast lawns, the property exudes tranquility and splendor. A two-story foyer adorned with elegant paneling beckons guests into the main residence, while the adjacent living room, opening onto a generous terrace, offers an ideal setting for entertaining.

Additionally, the estate features a sizable formal dining room, a light-filled gourmet kitchen with a charming breakfast nook, and a primary suite boasting breathtaking views, high ceilings, and luxurious marble accents.

Further enhancing the allure are a pool house, a catering kitchen, and a two-story guest house, alongside two separate guest/staff suites, a wine cellar, and four fireplaces. Subsequent to their acquisition, Spiegel and Kerr embarked on remodeling endeavors, elevating the home’s sophistication and charm.

After nearly a decade of calling this iconic residence home and nurturing their family within its walls, Spiegel and Kerr have elected to embark on a new chapter, listing the property for just under $20 million. Thus concludes their chapter in the storied history of this esteemed abode, signaling the dawn of its next era.

Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Los Angeles real estate, properties with celebrity lineage stand as beacons of allure and prestige. From architectural elegance to luxurious amenities, these homes embody the essence of Hollywood glamour, capturing the imaginations of discerning buyers seeking a piece of cinematic history.
